My uncle has given me a huge collection of old photos that he received from his grandmother before she past. Nobody that is living in my family can identify the people in the photos. They are cardboard photos with a slight gloss on the front and the location and name of the studio on the back and bottom. I am guessing they are from the early 20th, late 19th century. All of them are studios in NY and have some sort of German writing or German sounding name as the studio name. My question is....Is there a way to identify these people? Maybe a way to contact the studio or whoever has taken over the studio. Maybe somebody has been given the rights to the negatives and would be able to find names associated to each? Here are some of the studio names. I have looked them up online but not too much shows up: Shackell & Clauss J. Goodman Studios Steinberg The Ollivier H. Grimschl JK Coole Wm Hohenstein The R&R Studios Schwenter Two of the photos have a number written on the back likely to be the number for the negative. Also, most of them state that duplicates can be had at any time....if only that is true haha. Notify Administrator about this message?
