Simms, early professor of Texas A&M

Does anyone have any suggestions on finding an early professor of Texas A&M? I just found this clue yesterday on my grgrgrandfather Simms. My grgrandfather Thomas Alexander Simms, obit states that his father was from England and early professor of Texas A&M. This is a great find for me, I have been searching for my grgrgrandparents for a few years now. I am not sure of his first name, but in my grgrandfathers death certificate it states that his father was TA Simms and was from Coventry England. Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.
