Please don't think that I took offense to the "Lying John" remark. I look at it like it adds color to our family. Good or bad, they're still our relatives. Never knew anything about Roy's family. Where does "Lying John" fit in again? Where did those Tippers live? Was it in Quincy or in Colquitt County? I can never seem to find anything on those folks. It's as though they just disappeared off the face of the earth. Sheesh. The only thing that I ever heard about "Scott" was that he was "mean" but never heard the reason why. As a matter of fact, I've always heard that this branch fo the Tipper family was "mean" - Roy included.
Sorry to hear that your father had to pay for your grandfather's actions though. Just doesn't seem right at all. However, thanks for sharing his story though. Again, it lends a bit of color to our tree. I'm looking to other stories from our family. I can't wait to hear more information from your brother. I have very few pictures, but I do have a picture of Walter Pope Tipper and another picture of a Tipper that I can't identify. I'll try to have it scanned to see if you all can identify the folks.
Thanks again for the info.
