David, Just saw your posting. Yes, that Thomas Tinsley (born 1874) is probably my grandfather. Parents were: James Mullen (Mullan) Tinsley(1848-1927) and Mary Tinsley (1837-1891). His wife was Maud Emily Tinsley and his eldest daughter, Maud Agnes Tinsley (Born 27 March 1913, still alive and living in Sao Paulo, Brazil). She is my aunt, eldest sister to my father, Lawrence Norman Tinsley (1915-2000). I don't know that my grandfather ever went to Argentina (at least not to live, but possibly on a ship, since he was a seaman). He did, however, come to Sao Paulo, Brazil and lived here until his death on 7 May 1959 His father was an expert on mills and owned mills in the Christchurch area in the UK. My grandfather opened a business in Brazil dealing with water heaters, also faucetts, showerheads and that sort of thing. My aunt Maud took over the business after his death, but it no longer exists -- went bankrupt a few years ago. My grandmother, Maud Emily (née Bradshaw) was born in Southern Brazil, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in a place called Arroio dos Ratos. She and my grandfather were married in Rio de Janeiro. As my mother says, they were a travelling lot! Got around! I am interested in the news on the existence of a Tinsley in Rio Grande do Sul. Could we exchange information? My e-mail address is: doreen.translator@gmail.com Hope to hear from you soon. Doreen Carre Notify Administrator about this message?
