I am a descendant of George M. Tinker. George married Olive Barcume in Wisconsin. He served in the Civil War. Documentation of George ends with his desertion from his unit during the Civil War. When researching Civil War records I found that Francis Sealey, in his Civil War pension application, states that he is George M. Tinker – that George M. Tinker was his alias. Francis/George states in his pension application that he was born in NY and moved from Wisconsin to Iowa and then to Covert, Kansas. I am looking for a photo of George Tinker aka Francis Sealey, as the family doesn't have one. Olive divorced George in the 1860's. I have not been able to find either George Tinker of Francis Sealey in the 1860 census. George drops off the face of the earth following his desertion. Francis/George married Mary Ann Gaston in Iowa in 1866. They had multiple children when they lived in Iowa. They didn’t move to Kansas until 1876/1879 timeframe. The date varies in documentation. However, I can’t find Francis/George in the 1870 census. Since it appears that Francis and George are the same person, I am trying to confirm that fact for both families.
