I'm not a Tindle researcher, I'm a Kindel researcher of all the variant spellings. I thought you-all might be interested to know of this record: "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution" by Bobby Gilmer Ross, Limestone College, 1983, Genealogical Publishing Co, Baltimore, pg 526: William Kendle, Private S.C. Line. #W7978, BLWt 29025-160-55: "After being pressed into service by the British, he was sent to New York, Philadelphia and Charleston. He helped take Charleston. In October 1780, he and a William TINDLE deserted." The book describes more on William Kendle as a Patriot soldier fighting under General Francis Marion the "Swampfox" but not on William Tindle. William Kendle became an American, lived in Moore Co NC & later in Sevier Co TN. The implication (to me) is that this William Tindle also became an American and settled in USA. Maybe he is yours? Have any of you-all learned of a Tindle in association with a Kendle (Kindle, Kindel etc)? Good luck and adios from Fred in Folsom CA
