Shelly,There was a large Tindell family in Iowa as far back as 1848 according to a descendant, Clarence Lee Smith. I have a census showing Nathan Tindell in 1850 and some census beyond that date. What kind of research have you done?Do you know your mother's parent's and grandparent's names.Nathan Tindell was born in North Carolina in 1796 possibly to Jeremiah Tindell and his wife, Mary. There are a lot of spellings of Tindell, Tindall, Tindel, Tindle, Tyndal, Tindill, Tindoll.Nathan, according to an earlier posting by Clarence Lee Smith, married Margaret (Peggy) Ross Nov 30, 1820 in Knox County, TN.They moved, according to him, to Carrol County, Indiana in 1829 and then to Richland, Wapello County, Iowa in 1848.They then moved to Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa in 1856.Nathan and Margaret are buried in Ottumwa Cemetery. They had at least 10 children.I am not researching that family but believing Nathan was a part of Jeremiah's family I have picked up a little of this info in my research.Carol Tindell
