Hi David,
My mother's maiden name was Tindale. My grandfather was probably related to the William Tindale of Fence Houses you refer to? He was originally a farmer but then became a butcher - house and shop was at Fence Houses and I used to visit as a child, though I have only very vague memories of my grandfather, who probably died about 50 years ago. I can probably find out more from my mother if you think there may be a connection.
Regards,
Brian
