Robert Timson 5/24/00
Roscoe P. and William E. Timson were both connected with the development of early flight in Massachusetts. Roscoe built and tested model aircraft in Lynn and partnered with George Norman Albree in the co-development of a monoplane, flight tested by Clifford Webster on Nahant Beach.
They also patented that aeroplane design in the US and Roscoe alone filed it in the UK. William was involved in the business side of the Arrowplane Co. with Joseph Shoemaker and William Hilliard. They had purchased a Herring Burgess aircraft (HB #3) from the Burgess Co. of Marblehead and planned to travel all over NE in 1910-1911 on the thenlucrative exhibtion circuit. Hilliard was a self taught pilot (May 1910) and was previously employed as a sucessful NE automobile racer. There is more info, and the Mass Av Historical Soc is currently reseaching their "story".We would like to get input from the Timson family as we have from the other names listed.
