Hi All: Thanks to research by Kathy Koenig, another son has been uncovered that can go under the five missing children. As you know, Nehemiah Timmons in his will mentions oldest son Abijah as his executor, and names youngest son,Nehemiah, Jr, born 1784. Then he mentions his seven children but not naming them Caleb Timmons, born 21 Nov 1777, died before 14 Oct 1801. From the book: Colonial Families of the Eastern Shores by Peden and Wright vol. 22 at April Court, 1794, Caleb Timmons (of Nehemiah)age 16 on Nov last was bound to William McGregor to learn the trade of Cordwainer(one who works with leather.) In Caleb's estate papers, Thomas Timmons is his administrator (Probably Thomas Timmons, Jr, his uncle. I don't think Caleb ever married.) Next of Kin was Rhoda Timmons and Nehemiah (Nehemiah, Jr.) the inventory was submitted in full 12 Jan 1802. So we have Abijah, Caleb, and Nehemiah, Jr. with four to go on the missing children. I have seen several family trees on ancestry.com where they list Abraham Timmons as a son, I think that is incorrect, I think Nehemiah would have named Abraham as his executor, if he was his son. If someone can show absolute proof that Abraham is Nehemiah's son, you should not add it to your tree. Same goes with Nehemiah's wife. No one has been able to give solid proof his wife is Thamar Wingate. So until I get a proof, such as a marriage record, or a Wingate Will naming her as Thamar Timmons, I will leave Thamar's maiden name blank. Karen Spencer Notify Administrator about this message?
