Hello Patricia I have also been doing some research on the Tilton/Digby connection. I am currently in New Hampshire on summer vacation, and all my gedcom files and data are at home in Venice Fl. I e-mailed a (can't remember who) contact in Leicester about Sir John Tilton asking for info.....she was most gratious and sent me a copy of the Tilton section of the "Doomsday book" showing the family tree connections of the Tilton family. It's been some time since I read it, but in the early 1500s when a family's last name was the location they were from, the Tilton family got there name from "Tilton on the Hill" which meant "where the soldiers were". The Digby's came to Tilton and became "Digby de Tilton". From this I came to believe that the name Tilton & Digby were the same family. If you haven't already, you might try..... http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/domesday.asp?homelink=domesdaybanner1 When I get back to Florida, I will look up my copy and read up some more on it.
