Daniel Til(l)man of Albemarle Co VA

Several Rootsweb.com family trees show two persons named Daniel Tilman: one b abt 1739 d 1811; the other b 1777 d 1844. USGenWeb refers to an affidavit for Revolutionary War Medical Pension for Tilman, Daniel, of Albemarle County, VA, dated 1819-1820. I have read the documents in the Library of Virginia Digital Collection and note that Daniel Tilman signed at least two of them personally. The elder Daniel would have been old enough to serve, but is said to have died before 1818 (the actual date of the earliest document) and the younger would seem to have been very young, indeed, to have “rendered military services.” Can anyone shed any light on this puzzle?
