I have some notes on census records or indexes to census records for Tillises. I suspect Daniel is the son of the Richard Tillis whose first wife was killed in an Indian massacre on their home near the Suwannee River. His second wife was Sarah. This particular Richard (ther are others) is possibly the son of the Tapley Tullis who settled in Camden County, GA and whose sons were Tapley, Richard and Joseph who, after papa Tapley's death, eventually settled in Florida, and who began spelling their name "Tillis." If you have access to the microfilmed census records of Florida, contact me and I can give you more information from my notes.
