Many years ago, about 1985, I went to that University and saw that Daniel had graduated in 1810 and that was probably where he was in association with the Earles who also attended the same place. through them he met Franky;(Francis Wilton Earle), same neme as her mother, and Daniel came out a Lawyer and went on to great wealth. For a while Daniel ran the Gun factory owned by Coloneo Elias Earle. Ffrankis married Daniel and died about 2 months after the birth of their son, Elias Henry Tillinghast. Elias Henry married Caroline Bellotte, daughter of Peter Bellotte, a wealthy farmer.
AS for this 'John' Tillinghast. I never ran into any one by that name. But there were other Tillinghasts 'floating' around that area besides Daniel and Thomas. Dr. Henry H. Tillinghast, married to Elizabeth in Newport,Rhode Island but moved to So. Carolina after The War of 1812, is in the 1890 U.S. Census. He died in 1895. I was unable to find his burial place. Elizabeth (Greene), a descendant of the Rev. War hero of that name married a distant cousin, Timothy Greene,a Drugist of some means in Camden, S.C. is buried in the Stone Cemetery in Greenville. They had two sons, as I remember, both becoming Doctors but both dying young. They are mentioned in othr books of the period. About it for now. NO John that Iknow of. Elton
