Donna:This is just one more part of 'your' puzzle of the 2 Pardons. I don't know what the NEGHS said about the marker in East Greenwich but it is a birth date, not a death date. It says; Pardon Tillinghast--Elder--1667 / 1743. and the RI Cemetery # is EG-018. There's another Pardon who was an Elder buried in the same place; and a 1770 / 1849 date. And as you know, the Emigrant was buried on Benefit St. in Providence, # Pv-013.
Also; counting back from the Emigrant, Pardon's, death date, 1718, I'm even more inclined to go with 1625 as a birth year because this would give him as 93 years old, while 1622 would give him a 96 year old date. Besides, that's the year that his father, Pardon and Sarah got married and it was late in that year. Check it out.
Since Sarah was a Vicar's daughter, I'm not willing to go with any 'shot-gun'wedding' as we say down home, and even then, the Emigrant would have probably been born in 1623, the same yeara sister was born. Most of this is in my head as I have no records here.
In your address space on the net, type< Rhode Island Cemetery Project Index> this will give you a lot of info. Get Tillinghasts out of the Index. I also have the Book on the North Burial Ground at home. It can be bought.
