Alexander is an uncommon name for a Tillinghast.I only have three in my database that were born in the 1800's.I have a fourth who was born in the 1930's, and two more in the 1980's.That's a total of 6 out of 23,000 descendants of the original Pardon Tillinghast in America!
Any way, I do not know which one was a ships master. Here are the possible choices:
I have an Alexander Tillinghast, born abt. 1830.He is the son of Pardon Hill Tillinghast and Hannah Howland from East Greenwich, RI (close to Exeter, RI).I found a record for a marraige of an Alexander Tillinghast to Maria Bailey on June 15, 1856 (source = New London CT Weekly Chronicle Newpaper).I do not know the parents of the second Alexander. He could be the same person as the first?
What information do you have on your Alexander Tillinghast, Ships Master?
