William Monk Tillinghast was my Great Grandfather.
The June 1, 1865, Pawtucket RI Census Record: Order #137 Fam #288 records Jane M. Tillinghast, age 42, Canadian Born to Irish Parentage and William M. Tillinghast, Age 7, Born in Kansas to American Parentage.
The June 1, 1870 Pawtucket RI Census Record: Family #1421,
Jane Tillinghast, Age 46, Housekeeper, Born in Canada, Father & Mother foreign Brn.William M. Tillinghast, age 12, Born in Kansas, Father & Mother foreign born.
The June 2, 1880 Pawtucket RI Census Record: Family #65,
Jane Tillinghast, age 58, Born in Canada, both parents are listed as born in Ireland.
William M. Tillinghast, who was the father of my Mother's Father, married 3-31-1886, in Sauk Rapids, Minn., Anna Margaret Snyder, born 11-1-1865, in Salk Rapids Minn, to Martin & Nancy Snyder, who were born in Germany.
Bill, how is it that you fit into this family?
I have been told that the M. in my Great Grandfather's name stood for "MONK", but I have never seen it in print.
Where did you come up with this name?
I have been looking for the connection of this Tillinghast Family.Any additional information is greatly appreciated.
