Vanessa,
I can just about guarantee you that Mary Tillett did not come from Wanchese. I am a Tillett descendant with several Tillett lines in my family tree. The first Tillett to live in Wanchese was Sarah Francis Tillett who married Joseph Mann Daniels and her brother Thomas E. Tillett moved to Wanchese and married Sophia Daniels and he was the first family with the Tillett name to live in Wanchese, these two siblings were not born until 1829 for Sarah Francis and 1832 for Tommy. I will concentrate on the 1810 census and try to help, there has been much speculation about your Mary and I do not know anyone who has any positive proof as to who she belongs to. (sorry) but I can eliminate some families for you.
Samuel Tillett:
married Lovie Russell (she was a widow with three children Jemima Etheridge, Jesse Etheridge (died as a teen, and Nancy Etheridge) and they had three children Thomas R. Tillett, Jesse (who died young) and Sally who married a Harrison
Esther:
Esther is believed to be the widow of the 1790 Lemuel, Lemuel and Esther had numerous children one of which is the younger Lemuel who two children Sarah Francis and Thomas E. Tillett both ended up in Wanchese. The really interesting thins is that Lemuel the Younger married Jemima Etheridge who was the step daughter to Samuel Tillett.
Avery:
We do not know who Avery's parents are, I do not have any girls listed as his children He married Sabra Dough and died around 1812
Thomas:
Thomas was the son of Thomas Tillett Sr. and Thomas Jr. Married Dolly Baum who was a twin. They had 6 children, 5 boys and one girl named Francis.
I hope this has helped in the way of elimination at any rate.
