My research suggests that this is Julius Tift: youngest son of Amos Tift of Groton, CT; brother of Nelson Tift who founded Albany, GA. Julius married Catherine Dickinson Noyes and lived in Mobile until 1856. They had a daughter Catherine who married Richard S. Rust, and a son Julius A. who was captured during the Civil War and later moved to California. Please e-mail me for details.
