I'm sure you have the correct family. Your Reuben (of South Dakota) and Thomas (of Washington) were the sons of Robert Kale Tifft (of Iowa), the son of Robert Caleb Tifft.

Robert Caleb Tifft had three siblings, Claudius, Thomas James, and Elizabeth H. Claudius ended up in Sanborn, Iowa, and Elizabeth ended up near Afton, Iowa.

They were the children of Reuben Tifft (of Rhode Island) and Elizabeth DuColon (of Kinderhook, NY). Elizabeth was the daughter of Claudius DuColon and Hannah Wright.
