James Peter Tierney, Chicago, Ill. 1905-1967

My husband is a Tierney, but was raised by his mother's side of the family. His father, Robert James Tierney (b. 1/26/1941 - d. 6/15/1973) died when my husband was shy of 5 years old. My husband only knows of one aunt. Her name at the time of his father's death was Darlene Lichtblau. It may have changed since then. His father's funeral was the last contact that he's had with the Tierney family and to his knowledge, there are no living relatives today.

We had a son last year and I want to try and piece together a family tree, so that he knows where he came from. The Tierney side of his family is proving to be problematic, since my husband has essentially been estranged from them for over 30 years. I have minimal information to begin my research. While I can do a direct trace back to my husband's grandfather, I lack complete information on marriages and siblings.

The name in the subject line is my husband's grandfather. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He married Edna Ellwood and produced at least 2 children: Robert James and Darlene. Robert was born in northern Indiana, possibly in South Bend. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves, and served in the Cuba Incident. He married my mother-in-law, Rosie Mauer in New Carlisle, IN. The had one child--my husband. My husband's name is James Joseph Tierney, born June 27, 1968, in South Bend, IN.

Does anyone recognize any of the data provided above? Are there any living Tierneys left from this family line, whom I can connect with to trace further back in time?
