Hello, Padraig
I have just found your posting. My family may or may not be connected to yours but I do know they came to Australia in 1841 from Co Galway. My direct ancestors were Thomas Tierney, born c1817 (unfortunately I cannot make out the town name) and his wife Winifred nee Haley (Hurley/Healey?). Travelling with them were Winifred's 17 yr old Brother, James Haley and his half brother, Patrick Cullen. Thomas was a farm labourer and his Father, Mark Tierney, was at that time a widower. Winifred's mother was Catherine Kelly. Their children were all born in Australia - named Catherine, Maria, Mark, Margaret, John and Helena. Hope you can find some connection.
Joan
