There are so many people with the surname Tierney in the New York/New Jersey area that it might be difficult to find relatives. Like your family, most Irish families seem to have used the same first names over and over through the generations.

My name is Thomas Tierney and I am from a large family in the New York/New Jersey area. I was born in Staten Island, New York. My father is Thomas Tierney and was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and my grandfather was Edward Tierney. The Tierney family of Bayonne, NJ owned a soda bottling company which was very successful for many years. The Company, known as “Tierney Beverages”, was in operation from the 1880’s until the 1960’s. Our family emigrated from Ennis in County Clare but may have originally been from another County.
