I've progressed on this line since my last post. First, Nicholas immigrated earlier than 1871. He came prior to 1862 when he enlisted in the Civil War. He and Walter Tierney, of Newark, Essex County, NJ are brothers. Their parents are Thomas Tierney and Mary Barry of Wexford County, Ireland. Nicholas was born there in 1842, Walter in 1851. I've not connected them to Michael or Patrick of St James Catholic Church yet. I don't know if Nicholas would qualify as a brother of a doctor! He was a brass polisher. Keep in touch.
