Bernard/Barney Tierney/Tairney/Turney fr Castle Blaney Ireland

Let's see if anyone has gotten this line any farther back than 1823.

I would like any and all information about this man. We think he was born in 1794 in Castle Blaney, County Monaghan, Ireland. He definitly died in Ayr in 1863.

In Feb 1823 his son James was baptized at St Quivox in Wallacetown, Ayr. Parent's names were given as Bridget Delly and Barney Tierney.

We are fascinated by this as we had always assumed the family left Ireland in the potato famine.

He had a daughter Mary b May 6 1825, a son, Andrew, b late 1827, another son James b. April 23, 1830 (indicating that the first baby died and also that Bernard's father was probably named James). This second baby named James may have been my father's great grand father. The written narrative I am working from contains considerable editorial comment about the prevalent level of record-keeping :)

Bridget, whom we have also encountered as Brigit Daly, died and Bernard married Janet/Jean McCullough, born in Ireland.
The family shows up in the 1841 census as an Irish-born coal miner named Barnet/Barney/Bernard Turney living with Jean/Janet in George St with their children Marian/Mary, 15,
Cormick, 15, Andrew 10, James 8, Elizabeth 5 and Barnet, 8 months. We are asssuming some were stepchildren. One minor mystery is a son John who appears in the 1851 census at 14 but not the 1841 census. Elizabeth is not mentioned in the 1851 census.

If any of this sounds familiar please drop me a line. We have a decent amount of information about more recent family members, although it is not complete, and I will be happy to help anyone that I can.
