The records I saw at St. Fachtman's church in Kilfenora, County Clare, show Timothy Tierney and Anne Mulqueeney married there Sept. 5, 1857. First son, Martin, was born in late 1858. Second son, Michael, was born in 1861. Timothy died in 1871. Anne came to US in 1881, apparently with three youngest sons: Peter Francis (1865), Patrick Joseph (1867) and my father, James Joseph (1869.)

If your Michael Tierney really was born in 1857, it doesn't seem that he was one of Timothy and Anne's sons. However, dates from that period are very "iffy". We had thought my father was born in 1872 in Connecticut, but careful checking of census records in the US and age listed on his marriage certificate show birth in Ireland in 1869. The records at the church confirm all the dates I have.

Sorry if this isn't much help.
