craig my Tierney relatives also came to Australia from County Cavan and I have researching our family tree for some time. The name Luke doesn't ring a bell. There were
several different families of the same surname who lived in the Relaghan, Derry, Shercock area just outside Baillieborough. Do you have any other information e.g. Luke's parents names or any idea where he came from in Cavan? Am interested in comparing any info we may both have. Unfortunately it's sometimes difficult to piece the story together as records are rare at times.
Regards Terry (nee tierney)...Mrs

My grandfather Patrick Thomas Tierney and his three siblings emigrated to Nth Qld. His father was Thomas Patrick married to MaryAnne McEnteer(also McIntyre now)... and changed to Freeman in 1850's.
Thomas P Tierney married 1884. He had sisters
Rose, Margaret Maguire, MaryAnne who married his wife's brother Peter McEnteer, and brother John.
Thomas P Tierney was son of Patrick T Tierney married to Helen O'Neil I believe.
Eldest sons were named after the grandfather in this family ....until the Australian generations!
