Thank you for your reply. My grandmother was a Tierney. Her father, Patrick, was a miner from Pennsylvania who went west to Montana then Idaho. He was born about 1866. His father, Martin, was probably born in the 1830's. He is said to be from Pennsylvania > Ireland (possibly Cork Co.). He married a Mary Maloney. I know of no connection to Ontario but will search there now. Every little bit helps. Thanks again.
