Simon, I don't know if this means anything, but as so many Irish emigrated to new locales based on others they knew there...My Nana, Helena Tierney White's Tierney relatives settled in Rhode Island. Her parents were THomas and Mary Ann McWilliams Tierney. Thomas's parents were Michael and Ellen but I don't where in Ire. they were from. What caught my eye was that your family were flax dressers who settle in Yorkshire. My father's FLatley family were flaxdressers from Ire who settled in Selby, Leeds where my great granddad married a flaxdresser from Knaresborouh....go figure.
