I'm curious to the spelling of the family name Tierney/Turney. My known family history orginates in Fayette and Westmoreland counties of SWest PA.(cira 1880 to present) I once saw the family bible in which the name spelling changed from Turney to Terney. Very little is known about why. Have also heard of 3 brothers mentioned, Jamestown NY, decent is uncertain, either irish or scotch. Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.
