In response to this thread, I am providing some additional information in hope that it may provide additional clues.
Julie and I share the same grandfather, who is
James Edward Tierney, b. 6/11/1891 Norwich, CT, d. 1/17/1938
He was born to James Tierney and Annie Hughes, and he had 3 siblings:
Philomena Tierney, b. April 1893 Norwich, CT, d. June 1903
Chorlton, Lancashire, England
Joseph Tierney, b. Jan 1896 Norwich, CT, d. 1912 Chorlton,
Catherine Tierney, b. Nov. 1, 1899 Montreal, Canada
(Kelley) d. Aug 1990, Hatboro, Pennsylvania
James Tierney (my gr-grandfather) b. 1860 Ireland (census)
d. 3/1/1900 Belleville, Hastings, Ontario,
Buried in Notre Dame des Neige cemetery
James Tierney (1860-1900) was married to Annie around 1890, and I assume it was in Norwich, CT. In Norwich he worked in the rolling mills as an iron worker and had a William Tierney living and working with him, which I assume is his older brother.
There is a James Tierney in the 1871 England census that seems to be a match for our gr-grandfather and there is an older brother William as well. What is particularly interesting is that both parents James (b.1827) and Margeret (b.1831) are from Ireland and all there children, except our gr-grandfather, are born in Middlesex, England. James (1860-1900) was born in Ireland which indicates that the family traveled there in 1860, but I have not been able to locate any immigration information to substantiate the family's travel.
James Tierney's (1860-1900) siblings were:
William Tierney b.1853 Middlesex, England, d. 1905 England
Margeret Tierney b. 1858 Middlesex, England d unknown
Michael Tierney b. 1863 Middlesex, England d unknown
Catherine Tierney b. 1866 Middlesex, England, d 1910 England
Mary Ann Tierney b. 1870 Middlesex, England d. unknown
James Tierney (b. 1827) may have died in 1903 in St. Pancras district of London, England, which is not confirmed.
