Patrick J Tierney - Immigration

I've been searching for my great grandfather's immigration record. I believe he left Ireland between 1840 and 1865. I found a marriage record for him to my great grandmother Delia Maria Healy in Newport Kentucky in 1866. She is also from Ireland, but that is the earliest record for him. I haven't any record of her either. I don't know where he lived in Ireland, possibly Galway or Tipperary from my childhood rememberances of family conversations. His first child was James A. born in 1867 in Newport, KY and had a daughter Mary in 1869. Other children born here in St Louis. Next records show him in St. Louis, Missouri in the 1880 US Census. He was a skilled tradesman, a stone mason and he and Delia could read & write. I've gone through Anestry.com, Irish-roots, Irish Civil Registration and others without succuss. There is a discrepancy in his birthdate. Family records show his birthdate as Jan 6 1841 but his marriage record shows 1844. He died in St Louis in 1900. Any help would be appreciated.
