TIERNEYS OF NW WASHINGTON STATE: My mother's father was Michael Charles Tierney, son of Martin Tierney who homesteaded in Thurston County, Washington State (now designated towns called Maytown, Tumwater, and Olympia. Martin originally came from Ireland, and was b. Oct. 15, 1855; d. on Nov. 9, 1928. His father was listed as Michael Tierney. Martin was married in 1880 to Elizabeth A. Doyle in St. Johns City, New Brunswick, Canada. They had six children of which 5 lived. Martin lists himself as being from Boston, Massachutsetts on his marriage records, but I cannot find him in Massachutsetts by birthdate. I know very little about him, excepting that I have a picture of the whole family which I plan on putting on facebook in hopes that someone may recognize similar family traits and help me figure out where in Ireland they came from. I know little about Elizabeth Doyle, his wife. If you or anyone else is knows of this Tierney family, you can email me at foxck@yahoo.com, list Tierney in the subject line.
