Hi Kerrie, I have been trying to find a link between Thomas Tierney the merchant, who was originally from Limerick, and father of George the Whig M.P. and John Tierney of Ballyscandland, Co. Limerick who was the father of Sir Matthew Tierney and Sir Edward Tierney. They are I believe cousins but I have been unable to find the connection.
I an also trying to link both families to a Michael Tierney to whom the, now popular, Tierney Armorial was granted in 1748, by The Ulster King of Arms. He may have been
the father of Thomas and John who I think may have been brothers - but not certain. Michael was originally from Tipperary. I am the organiser of The O'Tierney Clans Society
and any help you could give me would be very much appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from you.
