My ancestor Peter Tierney, Flax Dresser was born somewhere in Ireland in around 1835 (back-tracking from the 1881 British census, if the recorded info is accurate).

He married a Judith Gaffny, or Julia Gaffny, (conflicting sources),also born somewhere in Ireland, and they settled in Wetherby /Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, calling their son Peter.

I provide this information in case you uncover anything in your research which might link our families, since Peter apears to be a forename in common.

Simon Tierney
