John Tidd & wife Margaret, early 1600's

In looking at this message board and also the boards for Greenleaf and Greenfield, I can see there is a lot of confusion as to who John Tidd and wife Margaret were.

We know there was a John Tidd and wife Margaret that had the following children:
Samuel Tidd b: 1617 + Sarah Maye
John Tidd b: 1618 + Rebecca Wood
Ebenezer Tidd b: Abt. 1619
Hannah Tidd b: Abt. 1622 + William Savell
Elizabeth Tidd b: Sep 19, 1626 + Thomas Bowen, 2nd + Thomas Fuller
Mary Tidd b: Nov 23, 1620 + Francis Wyman, 2nd + Francis Miles Kendall
James Tidd b: Abt. 1633
Joseph Tidd b: Abt. 1635

There seem to be at least 3 John Tidds that have their histories are all mixed up. More than that if you count the fact that the John Tidd that married Margaret had both a father and a son named John.

John Tidd’s wife Margaret has been given the surnames of both Greenleaf and Greenfield. Most often she is reported to be the daughter of Edmond Greenleaf, born Jan 02, 1573/74. This is not true. Please see web site: http://www.geocities.com:0080/Paris/Metro/4985/green002.htm#id282
This Edmond’s wife was Sarah Moore, and they didn’t have a daughter named Margaret.
Maybe there were several Edmonds, because I often see a Sarah Dole married to an Edmond Greenleaf, having the following children:
Edmond Greenleaf, Jr. b: 1594
Elizabeth Greenleaf b: Abt. 1596
Sarah Greenleaf       b: Abt. 1598
Margaret Greenleaf b: Jan 1599/00
I don’t know where this originally came from. Maybe it is true, but the problem with this is that Sarah Dole’s husband, Edmond, is always referred to as the same Edmond Greenleaf that married Sarah More, and that just isn’t true. If Sarah Dole was married to an Edmond Greenleaf, it was certainly not the one born on Jan 02, 1573/74.

Samuel Greenfield’s wife was Barbara Tidd, sister of the John Tidd that married Margaret. Samuel and Barbara immigrated with a servant named John Tidd that was born in 1618. Is it just coincidence that John and Margaret Tidd had a son named John that was also born in 1618?

I don’t have the proof, but I believe that Margaret’s last name was Greenfield and that she was a sister of Samuel Greenfield. Margaret was born abt 1600, Samuel was born abt 1610.

What we would have are siblings, John and Barbara Tidd, marrying siblings, Samuel and Margaret Greenfield. John and Margaret's son then becomes a servant to his Aunt and Uncle.

I would really appreciate comments on all this.
Thank you,
