James Tickle christened 1772 Wooston RC, Warrington
My GGG grandfather James TICKLE has been a brickwall for a number of years. My Tickle family have been in the Wigan area, certainly since James married Betty Greenough in 1798 at All Saints.
I have been puzzled for a while by two orders of removal for James and Betty Tickle in 1809 and 1812, when they were removed first to Poulton with Fernhead and then to Warrington.
I had thought that James had been born in Leigh in 1775, but why would he have been removed to Warrington.
Today, I found a christening for James Tickle on the 5th February 1772 in Woolston RC, Warrington.
Checking on a map, I see that Woolston is very close to Poulton with Fernhead.
This could be my ggg grandfather, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Tickle.
There is a possible sister for James, Ann Charnock Tickle, christened at Woolston RC in 1774.
Is this family familiar to any other Tickle researchers?
