I just purchased a beautiful 1749 house in Maplewood, Essex County, NJ. I understand the first owner to have been Elizabeth "Betsy" Hand, whose maiden name was Tichenor. If anyone has any insights on this family, or even this location, I would be much obliged. I would be happy to share info with you, too.
