I have no proof that Jesse Tibbs is descended from Deskin Tibbs (Tebbs).Deskin married at least twice.By his first wife he had a son James Tibbs, born in Shenandoah County, Va. in 1772.He also had a son William (Waltham) Tibbs and a son Deskin Tibbs, Jr. by his first wife.He married second in 1785 to Leannah Johnston and had 9 children. These are the known children. There is a possiblity he had more.Deskin Tibbs died in 1821 in Green County, Kentucky. There was a lawsuit filed in Green County, Ky in 1822 by William Tibbs, a child from his first marriage, against the living heirs of his second marriage claiming his right to part of the estate. This lawsuit names the living heirs of Deskin Tibbs (Tebbs) at that time. There is neither a James nor aJesse Tibbs listed. The James and Jesse Tibbs of Warren County were both alive at the time. This indicates that either these were not children of Deskin Tibbs, or that their descent from him or their whereabouts at the time were unknown to the court. This seems unlikely since they lived in a county close to Green County, and if they were descended the plaintiff in the lawsuit, William Tibbs, would have been their natural brother and probably would have known of their existence.
It is still possible that both James and Jesse are sons of Deskin Tibbs.I believe James and Jesse are brothers, but as of now I have no proven connection to Deskin Tibbs.I have more information that seems to indicate that Deskin Tibbs was not their father.John Kebler
