I've hit a stumbling block. Francis Robert Tibbetts (Tebbets, etc.) was b. Aug 4, 1816 in NH. Married Francis Derobign Deane in Lowell, MA March 4, 1836, after which they moved to Steuben Co, NY.
They had children:
Lydia Maria, June 7, 1838
James Norton, April 21, 1840
Susan, April 24, 1841, d. June 8, 1841
Sarah Jane (my line), June 24, 1843 m. George Teele Vandusen
Ezra Palmer, April 8, 1844
Martha Sonduaka, Dec. 27, 1845
Marcus Augstus, June 20, 1848
Frances Isabelle, Sept 14, 1851
Mary Eldesta, April 10, 1853
Adelia Louisa, June 2, 1855
Several people have researched this line, but apparently Francis didnot say who his father was. On the 1900 census, he said his father was from Maine and mother from "--- district."
The first child, Lydia, was named for Frances Deane's mother, Lydia Colburn Deane. I wonder if James Norton Tibbets was named for his grandfather. Could Norton be mother's maiden name? Also, because of the 2nd son's name, Ezra Palmer Tibbets, could Francis be related to Freeman Tibbets who married Lois Palmer? Could this family be related to Erza R. Tebbets who married Catherine Hood in Lynn, Essex Co, MA 1834. Last, has anyone heard the name "Sonduaka" before?
Can anyone help? I've been stuck for years. Thanks much.
