I run the one name study on all T*BB*T(T)(S) families,and the likely purchaser of the telescope can be found in the census records for 1850 to 1880 at Gloucester. He is Robert A TIBBETS born about 1816. He was a jeweller, so would presumably use lenses in his work - perhaps this game him an interest in telescopes.
