Thurmonds of Texas and Arkansas

Greetings:

My name is George E. Thurmond II, son of George E. and Louise ("Lydia Louise Lynch") Thurmond of Dallas, TX. My dad's father, also of Dallas, was Leo Erasmus Thurmond and his dad was also Leo (I think) but not Erasmus (Middle Name), all from East Texas. This part of the family has been in Texas since before the 1824 revolt.

I had an "aunt" Edith Thurmond who, in the 1970's worked for the Arkansas Gazette (I believe from Little Rock) who amassed a family history spanning a couple hundred years (going back to the 17th century). I recall her sending me 2 things-- a hand written family tree (buried somewhere in tons of military paperwork from a long military career) and a request to search for information on a Lord Walpole on one of my trips to London during that period. Regretfully, I lost contact with her. Any information on her or similar efforts in researching the Texas/Arkansas tribes would be appreciated.

Dr. George E. Thurmond II
LTC, (R) US Army
