My grandmother, Bessie Thrift Ferguson, b. 1886 in Lincoln, AL (Calhoun County) was the daughter of William Spenser Thrift and Sarah Elizabeth Griffin Thrift. She had brothers named Fred, Homer and Dean. About the mid-1890s her father died and the family moved to Forreston, Texas. In the 1930s/1940s one of her brothers owned Thrift Oil & Tool Co., in Alice, Texas. Dean and Fred lived in Corpus Christi, Texas in the 1930s/19040s. Fred owned an oil-related business there, and Dean worked for the city water department. If this sounds like someone in your line, please contact me.
