SC Thrifts

I'm currently mired in the early 1800s of SC, Newberry to be exact.

I'm looking for information surrounding William Thrift, born around 1809.

I've got conflicting dates on his marriage to Rebecca (no known maiden
name yet).

During the 1850 Census he appears, with children:
John Born 1836
George Born 1838
Calvin Born 1840
Pulaski Born 1842
Allen Born 1844 (I'm descended from Allen)
Spencer Born 1846
Mary A. Born 1848

Now on the 1840 Newberry Co, Census I have a William Thrift with 2 boys
under 5, (That'd be John and George) a female 20-30 (Rebecca) and a
famale under 5 (given the matches, I'm going assume that's the same guy,
and he counted the then- pregnant Rebecca's baby as female)

On the 1830 Census the only William Thrifts that appear are both too old,
and in the wrong states (still trying to cross reference as to if my
William is a William Jr.; learning to hate those).

This is where I'm stuck. Before I re-invent the wheel any further I'll
pause here and see if anyone has some relevant information. Thanks in
advance.
