My uncle, Ronald Thresher, has done extensive research on the Threshers of Portesham and his records show that Betty Thresher, daughter of Philip Thresher, married Edward Balston on Oct. 17, 1770, in Portesham. Philip Thresher was christened on April 24, 1696, in Portesham and was the son of a John Thresher, a miller in Abbotsbury.

Are we speaking of the same family?
