Relatives in England or Beyond; by marriage or friends etc.

Hello, my name is Janelle Threlfall. I live in British Columbia Canada. There are many people (about 25 or more) people with my surname, or had my surname but than married into a different family. But the thing is that they are all related to me. They are either my cousins, my aunts or uncles, or my gramma. I was wondering if any one had this same situation, or are all the Threlfall's in the world relatied? I highly doubt that this is the case. But I would also like to know that because we aren't all related, how did it be that only the Threlfall's where I live are all related to me?

My grandpa's name was Donald Threlfall. He died about ten years ago.
My grandma, his wife, was Elizabeth Scott.
My great grandpa was named James Threlfall

I don't really want to give to much infomation out, just because some of the people might not want it out. But if you could message me back that would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Janelle Threlfall
