In my research I have come across it spelled all 3 ways for our family line.
Here is what I have on Tacy:Saline Co IL Marriages 1847-1880 John Threatt 40 m. Tacy Bybee 20 11 Jan. 1876 by Caswell Russell M.G.According to Pope Co IL Census 1880 she is listed as being born in Ohio and her parents in VA.Their daughter America F Threat m Calvin McGowan 27 July 1902.I really did not do much research on that line of family since I do not descend directly from it.Your ancester Tacy married my great-great-grandfather. He was married to Susan who died on the family plantation in Miss.
John & Susan had 2 children : a boy & girl. Susan & the little girl both died.He came to So. IL because his aunt & uncle Reeves were here.John's son name was William Green thweatt. He was born in 1846 and is buried a few miles from where I live.He died 1920.He was my grreat grandfather. My grandfather was born 1894, my dad 1929.
Now if you want family history on the Thweat, Threatt, Threet side this is in a brief part of it: Frederick came to KY after serving in the Rev War from SC (his father was John Miles Thweatt) to KY .He had John , James, Isham Nancy, Jane, Miles,You & I descend from Isham.who married Elizabeth Reeves, daughter of Miles Reeves. They moved to Laf. Co. Miss where Isham was killed on his plantation. Eliabeth & the others died of something & John came to IL.
I have documentation of all of this - wills etc. Tell me what you are interested in & I will try to answer for you.
I do not know about your side of the family but mine have used the same family names over & over. Please tell me about your side of the "family"& how they came to go back to VA.
