Okay, ya'll, it's now been two years since the last post concerning information for William Walton Thrasher, Lucinda Lott, and their children. I'm ready to stir the pot. In doing my research, I've discovered like many of you have, that the Thrasher's from Georgia and Alabama recycled names. WWThrasher had sons named James Marion and George Washington. Isn't it ironic that the James Marian who was the son of George Washington Thrasher was only a year or so older than William Walton and was a neighbor of his during the earlier censuses of Alabama? Isn't it even more ironic that this same James Marian married Nancy Lott, sister of Lucinda Lott? Why are we all in denial that these two men are most likely brothers? The signs all point in the same direction. So, what about William not showing up in any entries that show James' other brothers and sisters? Well, according to my family bibles, several children are usually left out, including the parents own. Maybe he is in the records somewhere but the name is misspelled. Who knows? But the truth of the matter is usually brothers married sisters from another family. Usually brothers named their children after their siblings or father or both. Looking at George Washington and Lucinda's children, you have William Carl, John Wesley, Asa....just to name a few. These men, my grandfather was William Carl, were named after either a brother or father of George. John Wesley and Asa were brothers, William was the father. Looking at the decendents of James I see the same pattern. I am safely going to believe that these two men were brothers. Who else out there is with me?
