After doing some extensive research on the THRASH / THRUSH lineage, we have raised some question as to WHO really was John Thrash (II)'s father? We only have only been able to trace him thru records in Hampshire/Mineral County, when he arrived in 1807, where John (III) was born and married Rachel Umstot (b.1808), dau. of Jacob Umstot. According to family tradition, John the II (b. ABT 1768?) came to what is now the Cabin Run, Mineral County, WV from somewhere around the Rockingham County, VA area. But he was only in VA for a short time, having migrated there from supposedly Lancaster County, PA (possibly Heidelburg or Shippensburg?). The difficulty in tracing this route has been the loss of records in Harrisonburg, VA (fire during the war) and name changes. We have conflicting & supporting information with that of the late Donald Thrush's information. My father wrote a summary of the points concerning the lineage and I have it posted at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~bradytrilogy/download/Thrash-Origins.htm If anyone has compiled any research going backwards from John & Rachel, I'd really like to hear from you. The extensive research my late grandparents started and published in hardcover, I am continuing and republishing, updating it continuisly, to the Internet at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~bradytrilogy/kinfolk/ It also covers the surnames (and variations) of BRADY | THRASH | KNAGGS | ROW | HENDERSON | CRISLIP | MATHEWS | SQUIRES | LOBBAN | OOMSTEOTT | WARE | WINGFIELD | COPELAND | LEMON | VIQUESNEY | SHOMO | Notify Administrator about this message?
