NJ Turp/Thourp/Thorpe Mystery Help!
Posted by: Stacey Kopchick (ID *****0131) Date: April 02, 2008 at 07:49:16

If anyone could shed light on this mystery, I would be grateful. My ggGrandmother Edith Anna Turp from NJ married Thomas W. Langley b.03 Sep 1860 of Porchtown,NJ. No one in the family can find any info on her or her family.
There is an old family bible with her name written as Turp, however someone saw in South Jersey Church Records that it was spelled Thourp. My grandmom said that some Turp relatives coming from Ireland spelled it Turp and some spelled it Thorpe.
Does anyone have any ideas??
Anyone named Thorpe with ancestors from Ireland coming to NJ???
I appreciate ANY leads at all.

Stacey
